Catholic Charities Supervisor Isaac Gomez Recognized for his Childcare Advocacy
Congratulations to Isaac Gomez, who was recognized recently by County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg at the “Dads Who Build the Future Celebration” to honor individuals who advocate for affordable childcare. He is the father of two sons and is currently the Service Guidance Supervisor for Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County.
Isaac was one of seven fathers and father-figures honored in September at an event organized by “Build the Future Santa Clara County,” a partner-agency of CCSCC that advocates for affordable, high-quality childcare for all residents of Santa Clara County.
“I believe affordable childcare is critical because it strengthens our communities in so many ways,” Isaac said. “Accessible childcare supports working families and ensures that all children – regardless of income – get a strong foundation.”
Isaac began at CCSCC as a Community Worker at the Family Resource Center, Educare location, where he connected low-income families to services including childcare. He also facilitated family workshops that attracted families of all kinds, including single dads seeking resources to help their children thrive.
In his current role, he oversees a team of five employees who act as guides to families who are seeking support that matches their individual circumstances. He and his team are a part of CCSCC’s recently launched Footsteps initiative to facilitate greater access to services. Catholic Charities is a longtime leader in the county for providing services that prevent the cycle of generational poverty through early childhood development, parenting support, and after-school expanded learning.
