First 5 - Family Resource Center
A Free Program offered to families with children 0 – 5 years of age. It is designed to nurture the oral language development, creativity and problem solving skills in young children by motivating caregivers to engage with their children in story telling, circle time, art, music and dance.

Kinship-Shirakawa Family Resource Center
Activity Assistant
Key Responsibilities
Supervise children ages 2-11 years of age
Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
Work in a culturally and linguistically sensitive manner with families from diverse backgrounds
Keep all children in sight at all times
Plan and engage the children in play activities and provide a gentle, nurturing presence
Maintain a good relationship with the other childcare assistants to work effectively as a team.
Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the childcare room at the beginning and end of the group, as well as putting away any equipment
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
Undergo a background check
Maintain bi-yearly TB skin test record
Complete Volunteer training
May require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. It may require setting up tables, lifting or transporting program materials, refreshments, chairs, etc.
Benefits to the Position
The Kinship Program provides support to relative caregivers who are raising relative children in Santa Clara County, in order to provide a stable home for the children in their care.
The Activity Assistant position supports Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County’s Kinship Program by providing engaging indoor activities to the children in childcare while the caregivers attend the Kinship Support Groups and Seminars.
This position is designed to engage Kinship Children in fun activities that provide them with the opportunity to interact with other children in similar living situations.
Dates/Times/Commit
5:00 pm-8:00 pm on the 1st and 4th Wednesdays of the month, and possibly the 2nd Wednesdays of the month (days are subject to change to accommodate program events, holidays, or presenters).
Requirements:
21 years of age
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
First Aid certification and CPR certification
Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster status
